Lexus proves pre-eminent in its class, retaining Auto Express New Car Award

The Lexus NX has been crowned Mid-size Premium SUV of the Year in the Auto Express New Car Awards for a second year in succession.

Announced at an awards presentation in London this evening, the honour confirms the NX’s leading status in one of the most fiercely contested premium market segments.

Steve Fowler, Auto Express Editor-in-Chief, said: “The latest NX is one of the best Lexus models we’ve ever driven.

“All the traditional Lexus traits are present and correct – it’s brilliantly built and generously equipped with warranty cover of up to 10 years. But this latest model is also really good to drive and has the efficiency buyers of big SUVs demand, too.”

The second generation NX, launched in the UK in early 2022, marked the beginning of new chapter in Lexus design, electrified powertrains and advanced technologies. The range includes both the hybrid electric NX 350h and the plug-in hybrid electric 450h+. Lexus’s PHEV outperforms competitor systems by maintaining high efficiency when battery charge is depleted; unlike rival models which default to their combustion engine, the NX 450h+ automatically switches to self-charging hybrid running.

The NX is further distinguished by Lexus’s human-centred design, commitment to omotenashi hospitality and signature takumi craftsmanship, supported by the company’s peerless customer service.
