Case Study: Alphabet partnership with J Murphy & Sons helps curb carbon emissions

The objective:

Murphy Plant needed a fleet solution to support its new 'greener Murphy' climate action strategy, including having low carbon vehicles across its whole business. With many of its vehicles due for renewal, Murphy wanted to support its employees with choosing electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to help them reduce their impact on the environment.

What we did:

Alphabet provided Murphy Plant with full fleet funding, as well as management services, including damage reporting, roadside assistance, tyre replacements and mileage tracking.

Alphabet's partnership with charging provider, Shell Recharge Solutions, also helped support Murphy Plant drivers' move to electric, by providing free home chargers and installation to the first group of employees who placed orders for electric vehicles.

The results:

Alphabet provided Murphy Plant employees with a wider range of vehicles, including EVs and PHEVs, so they can select the vehicle best suited to their lifestyle. Through the increased uptake in low carbon emissions vehicles, Murphy Plant has increased its sustainability commitments and reduced its carbon footprint by almost 50%.
