Alphabet annual report 2022
  • 31% of all new deliveries are xEVs
  • Alphabet identifies need for consulting in electrification
  • Customers showed strong demand for more flexibility

MUNICH 16/03/2023 – Alphabet has navigated successfully through the year 2022 and its challenges: With 700,000 vehicles, the company’s total portfolio remained stable – despite high inflation and inconsistent economic circumstances. Same applied to the order volume of about 200,000 vehicles a year. With own Alphabet and OneNet partner locations, Alphabet has established its services over most of Europe and far beyond. In 2022, the company even continued to expand giving customers in Canada and Finland access to its services. Despite the highly volatile market, Alphabet has not lost sight of its key objectives: keeping customers mobile at all times and providing reliability and flexibility. With a significant increase in its own rental fleet, contract extensions, individual solutions, outstanding advisory services and, above all, transparent communication, Alphabet has continued to make their customers’ mobility easy.

Sustainability is a driving force

Yet again, Alphabet’s business figures indicate that the awareness and demand for sustainable, alternative fleets continued to increase in 2022 as in the previous year: The eMobility segment has shown strong growth in share. After a significant rise of the xEV* portfolio over the last three years, it expanded even further in 2022 by another 53,500 vehicles. Today, one in three vehicles in Alphabet’s portfolio is partially or fully electric – these vehicles accounted for 31% of total new business in 2022. “We have exceeded last year’s goal of increasing the electrified vehicle share of new business”, says Markus Deusing, CEO Alphabet International. “We will continue our mission of driving awareness and demand for sustainable, greener fleet options since this is of particular importance for our customers achieving their ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) targets.”

Rising demand in flexibility

In 2022, as a consequence of the pandemic, a clear demand for more flexibility was more evident than ever before: Customers have changed their behaviour in orders, fewer new vehicles were available, and the overall business situation had changed due to the economic uncertainty. Interest in flexible solutions increased significantly – allowing Alphabet to further expand the rent business with well over 22,000 vehicles. Alphabet has seen a nearly constant order volume in 2022 and is more than optimistic about the future. "We continue to see strong demand," says Markus Deusing. "Our order books are full and more vehicles are expected to become available again this year. For 2023, we expect again strong growth, especially for fully electric vehicles."

Expertise for transforming fleets

Alphabet’s most important goal is to support customers along their road to sustainability. To provide first-hand insights and expertise, Alphabet also monitors their own CO₂ emission and shares learnings from internal measures also with its customers. This will enable Alphabet to increase consulting in electrification and sustainability and to access transforming fleets. Furthermore, the future of fleets will be determined by digital solutions that help customers reduce CO₂ emissions – and make their lives much more convenient. Therefore, Alphabet will put the highest focus on digitalisation significantly invest in all digital services in 2023.
